Purpose of Position The University of Texas System Office of General Counsel, which advises the UT System’s 14 academic and health-related institutions, seeks two versatile attorneys with particular experience in real estate law to provide legal advice, counsel, and representation on real estate matters. The ideal candidates will also be eager to collaborate and problem-solve with clients and team members on other legal issues.
Essential Functions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required Qualifications Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association. Licensure to practice law in Texas, or full licensure in Texas within 12 months of hire. At least five years’ experience as a licensed, practicing attorney, with a particular background in commercial real estate.
Preferred Qualifications At least seven years’ experience as a licensed, practicing attorney. Experience in an in-house legal department (public, private or nonprofit) and/or law firm.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
