Job Description
The Associate, Real Estate Investments, actively supports the Pension Investment, Real Estate portfolio team in completing new investments, managing existing investments and in providing associated reporting and analytics. The Associate is familiar with the investment industry including portfolio management, investment dealers and brokers, public pension plans and is knowledgeable about capital markets..
Job Responsibilities
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Associate, Real Estate Investments.
- Assists Portfolio Managers with the financial modelling and analysis of funds, companies and transactions. Reviews and analyzes fund and direct investment opportunities. Prepares the initial screening reports and works alongside the investment team, conducting detailed due diligence on new investment opportunities. Helps prepare investment recommendation reports.
- Reviews external manager quarterly reports and tracks key performance and operational metrics. Performs comprehensive Excel analyses and highlights important insights.
- Assists Portfolio Managers in the preparation of the Investment Advisory Committee / Pension Committee report which summarizes the expected return, risk and opportunities, team history, strategy and terms.
- Builds and maintains internal databases, financial systems and models while streamlining operational processes.
- Assists Portfolio Managers in the preparation of Quarterly Investment Reports for each investment in the portfolio (either funds or direct investments). Ensures the data accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
- Supports ad-hoc analyses for portfolio management as needed. This includes analyses on tenant credit, industry exposure and loan covenant.
