CBRE's Business Insight Group is a newly created group of small, elite Researchers and Analysts whose mandate is to deeply study key questions that impact our business and help us make evidence-based decisions. While this capability already exists at some prominent global companies in other industries, it is a first for the commercial real estate sector and will help CBRE further extend its competitive advantage.
The Senior Analyst in the Business Insight Group role is a newly created position, working directly with the senior members of the Group, and will be part of the team helping CBRE drive evidence-based decisions on key questions that impact our business. This person will be an integral team member in delivering and driving unmatched insights from traditional and alternative data, as well as playing a key role in sprint projects that apply mental models to relatively specific strategic and tactical questions, which when answered and implemented, will have a meaningful impact on the company. The role requires someone with a multidisciplinary background, a passion for data and insights, a creative mindset, and an ability to stay focused in a dynamic environment with multiple projects and initiatives. Since this is a new role, we expect it to evolve over a period based on learnings and observations from initial projects; however, we always expect the role to remain multi-disciplinary in nature and impactful in its scope.
The Senior Analyst will be responsible for:
Execution of company and industry research as well as delivering insights on new trends and developments shaping the future of global commercial real estate industry
Run financial/statistical models and data analysis as well as visualization of:
Internal data, e.g. Finance, Research, Data from Lines of Business/Segments (e.g. Transactions, Valuations, Property Management, Outsourcing and Real Estate Investments)
External data, e.g. Industry reports and data, Wall St. models/data and data from other industries/companies
Alternative data, e.g. geolocation data, consumer spending/payments data as well as data sourced from expert networks as part of specific projects
Use Business Analytics and Data Science tools to extract, combine, clean and analyze data from multiple data sources (internal and external) and enable the Group to understand and communicate unique trends, patterns as well as insights from that data
Work closely with the Group's leadership team as well as stakeholders in other Segments/Lines of Business and Corporate Functions like Finance, Research, Corporate Development/M&A and Corporate Strategy
Prepare presentations that deliver key insights and explain the process/approach/model to get to those insights in easy-to-understand language
Participate in time-bound sprint projects that help the Company frame the right questions on a variety of subjects (e.g. Core Operations, Technology Innovation, M&A, ESG, Business Reorganization etc.), study those questions backed by data and mental models, drive consensus, and arrive at a particularly impactful point-of-view
Help the Group create and maintain effective internal and external partnerships
Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary within a lean group setting to continuously outperform and exceed expectations

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Business, Data Science and/or Business Analytics from a top tier educational institution. Master's Degree/Certificate in relevant fields will be a plus
Very strong academic track record: GPA 3.7+ / SAT 1500+/ GMAT 730+/academic scholarships
1-3 years of relevant professional experience. Prior experience or internships in Investment Banking, Private Equity or Hedge Funds will be preferred
Proficiency in Data Science and Business Analytics tools:
Data programming: Advanced Excel, SQL, R, Python, Alteryx
Data visualization: Tableau, Power BI and other dashboarding applications
Mapping: ESRI and other products
Fluency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
