HSBC seeks to hire a Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel & U.S. Head of Legal for the Global Trade and Receivables Finance (GTRF) and Corporate Coverage & Lending. This senior leader will be responsible for leading and managing a team of six lawyers and two paralegals who provide legal coverage of HSBC's GTRF business in the U.S., as well as its corporate and commercial lending businesses in the U.S., including flow lending to Global Banking and Commercial Banking clients, asset-based lending, commercial real estate lending and international subsidiary lending The individual will be required to design and drive an efficient team coverage strategy that supports business clients while facilitating the growth and development of team members, to make solution-orientated, judgment-based decisions, answer complicated questions to mitigate risks, and to exercise judgment, recognizing when issues need to be further escalated to senior management for consideration and deliberation.
The role of the U.S. Head of Legal for GTRF and Corporate Coverage & Lending requires strong leadership and coaching abilities to ensure the team works closely and collaboratively across the department and firm to support the business. The successful candidatewill understand and stay abreast of business priorities and the regulatory environment and trends, and proactively work with teams in legal, compliance, audit and risk to ensure consistency and best practices. The U.S. Head of Legal for GTRF and Corporate Coverage & Lending will play a key role in identifying legal and reputational risks, working in close partnership with the business and functions to develop and set priorities, drive consistency and closely manage costs. They will be a key leadership partner, contributing to team strategy, driving thought leadership and providing best in class legal advice and guidance to the business.
