Serves as the lead communicator for the global corporate functions that report through CBRE's Chief Responsibility Officer, including: environmental sustainability; diversity, equity & inclusion; safety & wellbeing; and philanthropy. Manages team members, direct reports and matrix reports, to achieve goals and objectives. Closely collaborates with the communications leads for additional functions that tie into CBRE's Corporate Responsibility and sustainable business efforts such as Ethic & Compliance, People, Marketing, etc. Develops and executes communication strategy, as well as multi-dimensional, high-profile internal and external communication projects (e.g. the company's annual Corporate Responsibility report, press releases, executive communications, speeches, preparation for media interviews, internet/intranet pages, presentations, email communications, thought leadership reports, social media, business development proposals and more). Works directly with the Chief Responsibility Officer, business leaders and subject matter experts, bringing in-depth knowledge of corporate responsibility practices, environmental sustainability, green energy and the commercial real estate services business to develop communication strategies aligned to business goals. Responsible for analytics and reporting of outcomes. Supports the broader Corporate Communications team in overseeing corporate projects that span lines of business, departments and geographies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To effectively perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this role, the ideal candidate will have a solid background in business writing and corporate communications, along with experience leading communications for corporate responsibility, environmental sustainability, social issues and governance.
Responsible for the development delivery of communications plans and programming in support of the business/corporate functions. Work may be written word or visual or both; and/or technical in nature.
Plans and develops strategic messaging for the Chief Responsibility Officer's organization and company-wide, global strategic initiatives.
Serves as an advisor on a variety of communications channels to support program goals, including email, intranet, social media, PR, media walls, etc.
Manages key relationships with business leaders and matrix partners at a global level to define strategy, review progress, seek feedback. Influences the decision-making process and final outcomes.
Supports the leadership team with the development of analytics and reporting, and monitors effectiveness. Provides support to less experienced or junior members of the team with tracking engagement with content and reporting on analytics.
May distribute press releases to the media, coordinate and prepare company executives for media interviews, respond to reporter inquiries.
May develop strategic messaging and content to support external messaging for the business segments, and/or to the press, and social media.
Reviews, edits, directs activities of direct reports and some matrix reports. Responsible for the performance management of direct reports.
Manages the planning, organization and control of communications within the global corporate functions that fall under CBRE's Chief Responsibility Officer. Responsible for a mix of direct and matrix reports. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Monitors appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources. Leads and supports staff in areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising and rewarding performance and retention. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values. Typically manages (directly or indirectly) a staff of specialists, senior specialists, and managers.
