GREENBERG GIBBONS COMMERCIAL (GGC) is seeking an Property Accountant to work from its Owings Mills office as an integral part of the company’s Accounting Department. The Property Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting duties for a dedicated commercial real estate portfolio. This includes but is not limited to posting journal entries, making adjusting entries, completing bank reconciliations, ensuring A/P coding accuracy, and assisting with operating budget completion. The property accountant will also be responsible for all lease administrative duties, including lease data entry, billing, cash receipts, etc. for a select group of properties The property accountant will work as part of a dedicated team along with GGC’s Accounting Managers, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer.
Desired Skills and Experience Include:
• BS/BA degree preferred. • 2-3 years of real estate accounting/lease admin experience preferred. • Experience with shopping centers and apartments preferred. • Strong Microsoft Office skills required, including Excel, Word and Outlook • Yardi and/or MRI experience preferred. • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Post journal entries, correcting and adjusting entries. • Complete the month-end close. • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations. • Maintain various schedules in Excel. • Assist with required monthly reporting for internal & external stakeholders. • Assist team with year-end package preparation for external auditors. • Ensure A/P coding accuracy and timeliness for select properties. • Assist in preparation of Operating and Capital Budgets • Work with Asset Managers on variance analysis and transaction coding. • Abstract and input all rental information and important lease obligations in property management software • Process one-time or manual tenant charges. • Prepare and process monthly rents (rent up). • Process tenant payments daily. • Ensure Gross Sales and Percentage Rents are properly tracked, maintained and billed as appropriate. • Perform yearly Real Estate Tax and Common Area Maintenance Reconciliations. • Reconcile Tenant accounts as necessary. • Provide extraordinary customer service to Tenants, Clients and internal “customers.”
