CASTO’s in-house legal team provides oversight and management of CASTO’s enterprise-wide risk management, compliance, and legal strategy relating to CASTO’s national commercial real estate portfolio. The Corporate Counsel position will support both the VP & Assistant General Counsel – Development and the General Counsel in connection with a wide variety of real estate, development, property management, corporate, and commercial transactions and agreements.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the drafting and negotiation of purchase and sale contracts, development agreements, deeds, declarations, easements, rights of entry, and other agreements and instruments related to CASTO’s commercial and residential real estate development and operations.
Assist with all aspects of commercial property acquisition and disposition, including the review of due diligence inspections, reports, and title and survey materials.
Consult with and advise property management, asset management, development, leasing, construction, and other internal business units on a variety of real estate related legal issues and agreements.
Draft corporate resolutions, operating agreements, redemption agreements, interest assignments, and other documents and agreements relating to internal corporate governance.
Assist in the oversight of outside legal counsel.
Provide occasional overflow support for the CASTO legal leasing team by drafting leases, lease amendments, assignments, terminations, and other ancillary agreements.
Provide general legal support for CASTO’s various business units.
Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in one or more states.
Minimum 3-5 years of transactional commercial real estate experience with an emphasis on acquisitions & dispositions, commercial leasing, development, and/or finance.
Basic understanding of a variety of legal disciplines, practices, and procedures related to real estate development and operations, including lending/finance, insurance, tax, environmental, construction, and land use/zoning.
Work well with a wide range of personalities, expectations, and competing deadlines and demands.
