The Vice President of Finance (VPF) works in collaboration with the executive leadership team. The VPF is responsible for managing and reporting on all fiscal and fiduciary affairs of the organization, including reporting to investors, lenders, and other stakeholders; cash management; budgeting and forecasting; and managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department; as well as recommending financial strategies for reaching the organization’s goals.

Organizational Strategy and Results:
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with key financial partners including lenders, investors, partners, syndicators, consultants, and vendors.
- Creates and leads strategic initiatives to both accomplish budgeted results and drive valuation creation through enhanced operating results
- Works closely with outside accounting firm to research, analyze, recommend and implement Federal and State tax mitigation strategies
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Analyzes financial reporting for performance, compliance and optimization purposes.
- Oversees organizational budgeting, accounting and cash management to ensure accurate reporting, interpretation and analysis of financial results in conjunction with forecasts and long-range plans
- Oversees and reviews 30 tax returns prepared by the Company’s external professional services
- Establishes and maintains controls to safeguard assets; documents and recommends improvements to internal financial policies and procedures
- Manages and monitors the organization’s cash flow and real estate development capital needs through forecasting and projections
- Supervises the accounting staff on day-to-day operations
Real Estate Development and Asset Management:
- Works collaboratively with Business Development staff to review potential acquisitions and divestitures, debt or equity proposals and partnership/operating agreements.
- Prepares detailed financial models with scenario/returns analysis under varying deal structures
- Manages full cycle debt process including sourcing and negotiating proposals, tracking and monitoring ongoing debt terms, and initiating modifications or refinance opportunities
- Works with the Senior Accounting to prepare and issue funding requisitions for all real estate development projects in construction
- Ensures that equity draws, project cost certifications and other specialized reporting to investors are completed accurately and timely.
Ensures compliance with all ongoing operations and reporting requirements.
- At least 7-10 years of demonstrated relevant finance and accounting experience, with five years’ experience in a senior finance position
- BA or MBA in Finance or Accounting required, public accounting experience and an advanced certification such as CFA or CPA a plus
- Knowledge and experience with real estate accounting and finance, both development and operational
- Use of collaborative and facilitative approach and the flexibility to work with broad range of cultures, personalities, and work styles.
- Ability to demonstrate the greatest level of flexibility in an environment with evolving priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, accurate, well-organized written and financial reports and to communicate verbally in an effective and concise manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, accounting software programs, and network Experience with Yardi software a plus.
