Hamilton Stephens Steele + Martin, PLLC is an established and reputable mid-sized law firm located in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. We are looking to hire two or more associate attorneys to become a part of our growing team!
Ideal candidates will possess-or being willing to develop-excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to take ownership of files appropriate to their level of experience. Successful candidates will be self-starters, confident, and team oriented. The firm prioritizes effective and timely communication, both with clients and colleagues, and successful candidates will share that priority. While preferred candidates will have 2-4 years of legal experience, the firm is open to attorneys who have fewer or greater years of practice, so long as they possess these qualities.
Candidates may have experience in any of the following areas of law: Real Estate, Construction, Municipal, Bankruptcy, Corporate Transactions, Domestic.
For a litigation associate, experience with e-discovery, arguing motions, and first chairing depositions is a plus. Duties of a litigation associate will include but are not limited to legal research, drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, drafting and answering discovery, arguing motions, preparation and assistance with mediations, trials, and arbitrations. For a transactional associate, commercial real estate is the main focus of our practice and relevant experience is preferred. The firm allows the opportunity to practice across its practice groups.
Some travel should be anticipated. A license to practice in North Carolina is required, in South Carolina-a real plus. Admission to practice in other states in the southeast will also help candidates stand out.

Salary & Benefits
Associate salaries begin at $110,000 and increase based on the candidates' level of experience and other qualifications. The firm offers a full range of benefits including paid parking, paid time off, an automatic 3% 401k retirement contribution, employee health/dental insurance ($50/month for employee coverage), vision, FSA, HSA, STD, LTD and Life Insurance coverage. Potential to earn an annual bonus.
