The Pavement Services Team is a group responsible for the maintenance of our fleet’s pavement health. Currently we manage over 2 billion square feet of pavement across stores, markets and supply chain facilities in the United States and Puerto Rico. Understanding all pavement solutions in both concrete and asphalt applications is crucial for those applying to this position.
You’ll make an impact by…
Primarily working within a region, as we’ve divided the country equally based on project load analysis.
Managing one of these regions developing relationships with our partners and organizational support teams within that region.
Having responsibilities for a specific area of the country with unique market forces and environmental conditions.
Understanding these dynamics and the ability to account for this at the project level across multiple categories (cost, climate, geotechnical, material availability).
What you’ll do…
This role requires the ability to evaluate pricing from pre-construction budgets to competitive bids, negotiated projects and contract altering change orders. There is a need to stay in an overall team budget so understanding these impacts at the project level and being able to account for and communicate this in a timely manner is critical to our fiduciary success.
The role requires the ability to read and understand specifications, plans, sections and details and be able to communicate with our consultants, contractors, and customers across all levels credibly. There will be situations where the applicant will need to speak to a group regarding a project in person or via Zoom at preconstruction meetings, pre-bid calls or site visits and the ability to understand plans and specifications and articulate that understanding is necessary.
The ability and willingness to travel as many as ten times a year is expected for visiting stores, and other fleet facilities, contractor and consultants and industry trade shows. This requirement will require scheduling of your trips, driving to locations and filing expense reports in a timely manner all will conforming to the corporate travel guidelines.
Weekly reporting is a requirement so the ability to summarize your regional program in a consistent reproducible way is essential.
The ability to collaborate with others across multiple teams in and out of the company is essential and should be expected. This skill requires flexibility and a willingness to see other solutions.
There is an expectation of innovation in this role bringing best industry practices for consideration, evaluation, and testing. This expectation will be a part of the team’s goals and is something we work toward individually and collectively.
Timely email correspondence is expected as this team receives a high volume of email exchange daily. We are all measured on the speed and clarity of our responses.
The ability to adjust to critical response projects that may be outside of our normal workstream. We must have a measure of flexibility to support other teams and organizations when an urgent issue arises. These types of response take up less than 5% of our time.
